Please read 3 John
The book of 3 John is a letter to a man named Gaius. While the name Gaius appears a few other places in the Bible no one is positive as to which Gaius is being addressed in the letter. There is also not a lot known about Gaius but the letter does tell us a few attributes of Gaius. The letter tells us that people reported to John that Gaius is faithful to the truth and he continues to walk out that truth or belief. The letter also tells us that Gaius is known for being faithful and generous to other believers and for his love. These statements should lead followers of Jesus to ask the question, “What are other believers in Jesus saying about my faith when I am not around?”
Please use the following questions for more reflection.
If people had to tell John about your faith or belief what do you imagine that people would say about you?
In verse 12 another man Demetrius is also said to be, “well spoken of by everyone.” Is it important to be well spoken of by everyone? Do people always speak well of you?
Which attribute of Gaius or Demetrius would you most like to emulate?

Gracious Heavenly Father, I realize that what I say and do will have an impact on others and have an impact for Jesus. Lord, show me when I am not acting or speaking well and give me the courage to change my speech and actions. Help me to have a positive testimony to others. Amen.
