Take a moment to open this time in prayer. Ask God to bless you as you read and reflect on the text.
Read Zephaniah 2: 3
Zephaniah is another book of the Bible that is not very well-known or well read. One reason it may not be well read is because it describes God as angry at the rebellion of his people. However, even in the midst of this we can read about attributes that we should try to emulate. In verse three there are three attributes that are highlighted. We cannot attain these attributes on our own but we should ask God to help us develop the attributes. These attributes are: humility, righteousness and a genuinely seeking of the Lord. These three attributes will be a blessing to us in any time and place.
Please use the following questions for more reflection.
What attributes or characteristics do you think your family or best friend would say that you have?
Do you truly seek the Lord? How do you do this on a daily basis?
What else do you seek after besides the Lord? How does this seeking influence you?
Closing - Use the prayer below to end the devotion or close in prayer in your own words.
Gracious Heavenly Father, there are many attributes and desires that I seek after in this world. Instead of seeking after this world help me to seek after you, Lord. Develop within me those characteristics which would honor you and especially help me to develop humility and righteousness. Let me use these attributes to bless others in my life. Amen.
