Take a moment to open this time in prayer. Ask God to bless you as you read and reflect on the text.

Read Nahum 1: 15

The previous devotional from Micah was about being careful of those (false prophets) who only bring good news and positive words. However, there is a time for good news and peace and rest. In the midst of the current pandemic crises it is sometimes hard to hear good news in the midst of all the bad news. However, hear these words of good news: there is a God, he loves us, he is in control and at some point life will return to normal and there will be festivals, parties, events, and there will be peace and calm again.

Please use the following questions for more reflection.

  • Do you gravitate more to good news or bad news? Why?

  • In the paragraph above are listed several phrases of good news. How do you feel about those phrases? What other phrases of good news would you add to the list in general and for you personally?

  • Do you think that life will return to normal soon?

Closing - Use the prayer below to end the devotion or close in prayer in your own words.

Gracious Heavenly Father, we can get so depressed by the bad news of our current circumstances that we forget the good news we experience every day and the eternal good news that comes from you. God we thank you for the good news in our current life and the eternal good news that we have from you. Lord, we pray that the bad news of this pandemic will soon end and that people will return to health and peace. Amen.
