Take a moment to open this time in prayer. Ask God to bless you as you read and reflect on the text.

Read Jonah Chapter 3

In this Chapter, Jonah finally makes it to Nineveh and begins to proclaim God’s message to the people of Nineveh. Surprisingly, the people of Nineveh repent of their sin and God forgives their sin. From this we learn two amazing lessons. First, God’s message is for all people even our enemies or those we deem least likely to respond to God’s message. Thus, we need to be prepared to share God’s message with all people. Second, we learn that God is gracious and listens to our repentance and forgives our sin. That is truly amazing grace.

Please use the following questions for more reflection.

  • How often do you share God’s message with other people? What prevents you from sharing God’s message?

  • In the passage the Ninevites realized they needed to repent of their sins. Is there any sin of which you should repent?

  • How does God’s amazing grace give you comfort at this point in your life?

Closing - Use the prayer below to end the devotion or close in prayer in your own words.

Gracious Heavenly Father, even when we run away from you, your goodness continues to pursue us. Lord, I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to repent every day. I thank you that when I repent that you forgive. Lord, help me to pursue you instead of running away from you and help me to extend the grace that I have been given to other people. Amen.
